Our customers are excited about new digital capabilities like the Striim Platform integrated with Microsoft Azure IoT technologies that can help transform their business.”

Intelligent Edge Processing of IoT Data

Intelligent processing and analytics of IoT data at the Edge is possible through Striim’s integration with the Azure IoT Gateway SDK in conjunction with the Striim Edge Server, as well as with Azure IoT Hub as a target. Both integrations support real-time pre-processing and analysis of massive volumes of IoT data in order to eliminate irrelevant data from moving upstream.

As IoT data volumes grow, filtering and pre-processing is crucial to avoid ingesting more data than can be processed. Edge processing enables companies to filter out repetitive and normal data, aggregate multiple data streams, and enrich data with context at the source, helping them extract the signal from the noise. Companies can also perform fast-path analytics and anomaly detection at the edge that can trigger events or actions in devices without having to reach the Cloud.

Advanced Cloud-Hosted IoT Analytics

Striim further integrates with Azure Event Hubs to enable fast post-analysis of IoT data in the Cloud. Striim is able to aggregate and correlate data from the Azure IoT Hub with contextual data and other real-time streams in the Cloud to deliver real-time intelligence. This intelligence can be used to determine faults in manufacturing processes or materials, anomalies in energy distribution, and inefficiencies in factory floor operations, for example. Pattern matching, alerting, workflow triggers, and continuous push-based visualizations ensure companies can immediately take advantage of this intelligence.

This week, over 250,000 visitors will converge on Hannover, Germany to discover the latest trends and solutions surrounding the Integrated Industry, Industrie 4.0 and Smart Factory. The foundation for this modern industrial revolution is the Internet of Things (IoT), which allows the direct connection of all production and logistics devices and processes. The objective is to make industries more intelligent, efficient and secure, none of which is possible without the real-time edge processing and cloud-based analysis of the whitewater flood of IoT data.

On the heels of Striim’s mega release of version 3.6, Striim further underscores its commitment to seamless integration with Big Data and Cloud environments with this release.

CDC WizardsHighlights include integrations with MapR, Kafka 0.9 and Google BigQuery. Striim is also pleased to launch the Hazelcast Striim Hot Cache, announced separately.

“In this release, we have further strengthened our leadership position as an end-to-end streaming platform. Striim’s ability to transcend on-prem, cloud and IoT environments in real time is what sets us apart,” said Alok Pareek, founder and EVP of Products at Striim. “These types of new integrations with Big Data and Cloud technologies, combined with enhancements for Kafka security and ease-of-use, further accelerate our product capabilities.”

Big Data Integration

Striim’s support for Big Data has been enhanced to include integration with MapR DB and MapR Streams as a target. Companies can now leverage Striim’s change data capture (CDC) and multi-stream correlation capabilities to capture data from enterprise databases, process that data in real time, and then load that data to either MapR DB or MapR Streams. Support for MapR rounds out Striim’s Big Data Integration offering, with existing support for HDFS, Hadoop, and Cloudera as data sources and targets. In addition, Striim is pleased to announce the availability of the Hazelcast Striim Hot Cache, helping companies ensure, in real time, that their cache is always in-sync with their database. Hazelcast is a leading provider of operational in-memory computing, with tens of thousands of installed clusters and over 16 million server starts per month. More details can be found in this separate announcement: Hazelcast Striim Hot Cache – Reducing Windows of Inconsistency to Milliseconds.

Now users can get data into both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) from an on-prem agent, giving them greater flexibility in managing their hybrid cloud environments in real time.

Template-based CDC Wizards

With Striim’s continuous focus on ease-of-use, the company has added twelve additional Change Data Capture (CDC) Wizards. These Wizards speed deployment of streaming solutions that require moving enterprise data from a variety of databases (including Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL and HPE NonStop), into these newly supported Big Data and Cloud environments (MapR, Hazelcast, and Google BigQuery). Support for Kafka Security Features The Striim platform now takes advantage of the security features introduced in Apache Kafka v0.9. With this support, companies are able to authenticate end-users via either Kerberos or TLS client certificates. This gives them visibility into who, exactly, is making a request. In addition, Striim customers can leverage the UNIX-like permissions system to control which end-users are authorized to access which data. Finally, Striim’s embedded Kafka implementation supports SSL encryption over the wire to protect sensitive data on questionable networks.

Infrastructure Enhancements

To facilitate troubleshooting and debugging, the Striim event log which contains important cluster information is now available visually, simplifying search.

Finally, a new JMX-based monitoring feature enables the Striim platform to connect to third-party monitoring products using the JMX API, exposing Striim statistics through message beans.

Hot Cache

Hazelcast Striim Hot Cache – Reducing Windows of Inconsistency to Milliseconds

Joint hot cache solution enables real-time, push-based cache synchronization with its underlying database

Palo Alto, Calif., November 3, 2016Hazelcast, the leading open source in-memory data grid (IMDG) with hundreds of thousands of installed clusters and over 16 million server starts per month, and Striim, provider of the only end-to-end, real-time data integration and streaming analytics platform, today announced the launch of the Hazelcast Striim Hot Cache. This integration enables real-time, push-based propagation of changes from the database to the cache. For organizations that manage high volumes of data, Hazelcast Striim Hot Cache ensures continuous synchronization between the cache and its underlying database, providing consistency with the system of record.

With Hazelcast Striim Hot Cache, companies are able to reduce the latency of propagation of data from a backend database into a Hazelcast cache to milliseconds. This provides organizations with the flexibility to run multiple applications off a single database, keeping Hazelcast cache refreshes up-to-date while adhering to low latency SLAs.

Traditionally, if there is a one-to-one relationship between an application and its underlying database, and no other applications or systems are able to make changes to that database, then the intermediary cache stays in-sync with the database. However, if changes are made to the database directly by other applications, then data held in the cache immediately becomes stale.

A common workaround to this problem is “time to live” or TTL. This is when companies purge documents from the cache after a period of time. For many this is a “near enough” solution. However, the process lowers cache efficiency and is inadequate for businesses that manage high transaction data or need to maintain high levels of customer experience.CDC Wizard

Hazelcast Striim Hot Cache leverages Striim’s Change Data Capture (CDC) functionality to capture changes in the underlying database in real time (within milliseconds), and push just those changes instantly to the cache. Through CDC, Striim is able to recognize which tables and key values have changed. Striim immediately captures these changes with their table and key, and, using the Hazelcast Striim writer, pushes those changes into the cache.

The full data for the change is available to Striim. An Object Relational configuration is provided for each cache, so that the changes can be applied to the domain model in Hazelcast. These changes can be inserts, updates and deletes. During transformation, Striim can also perform data enrichment (joining CDC updates with other data, or performing aggregation and more complex processing) before writing the Object to the cache.

Striim offers a CDC Wizard to speed deployment. Users can quickly configure the capture of change data from a variety of databases (including Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL and HPE NonStop), and propagate that data to their Hazelcast cache. No configuration is required in Hazelcast.

“Having a cache that’s out-of-sync with its underlying database can have dramatic consequences for important transactional data, perishable real-time data, or customer experience,” said Ali Kutay, Chairman, President and CEO of Striim. “We are delighted to work with Hazelcast to reduce the latency of their refreshes to milliseconds by integrating our real-time data integration products, including change data capture, with their cache.”

“Caching data in-memory is well proven in speeding up and scaling applications. But holding that extra copy of data creates a synchronization issue,” said Greg Luck, CEO of Hazelcast. “The Hazelcast Striim Hot Cache solves the most difficult form of this problem – the case where other applications are also updating the database being cached. We are very excited to be bringing this critical enterprise solution to market.”

Striim Certified on Cloudera Enterprise 5

End-to-End Platform Provides a Cost-Effective, Easy-to-Use and Enterprise-Grade Ingestion and Analytics Solution for Cloudera-based Enterprises

PALO ALTO, Calif., September 16, 2016 – Striim, Inc., providers of an end-to-end streaming integration + intelligence solution, is proud to announce that it is now a Cloudera Certified Technology Partner, expanding its real-time data ingestion and streaming analytics capabilities to the Cloudera Enterprise 5 platform. This integration helps enterprises reduce cost and speed time-to-deployment of their real-time analytics solutions, while upholding the security, performance and scalability requirements of mission-critical applications.

STRIIM CERTIFIED ON CLOUDERA ENTERPRISE 5Striim release 3.5.1 has been certified with Kerberos and Apache™ Sentry and leverages the following components: Apache Kafka®, HBase®, and Hadoop® Distributed File System (HDFS).

The Striim platform enables continuous, real-time ingestion (including Change Data Capture, or CDC) and movement of massive volumes of data to an enterprise data hub from Cloudera. While data is streaming, Striim is able to filter, pre-process and analyze the data, making it more valuable when it lands in Hadoop or HBase, or on a Kafka queue.

Key to this certification, Striim’s latest release features native Kafka integration. With a flip of a switch, Cloudera users can leverage Striim and Kafka to enable recovery for non-rewindable data sources, and decoupling of applications from streaming sources.

“As an end-to-end platform for real-time heterogeneous streaming analytics applications, Striim is committed to seamlessly integrating with major Big Data and Open Source solutions,” said Sami Akbay, founder and EVP of Business Development at Striim. “Cloudera’s certification of Striim provides our mutual customers with the assurance that they can deliver real-time data integration and streaming analytics applications at the speed and scale of the world’s largest enterprises.”

Cloudera provides the world’s fastest, easiest, and most secure Apache Hadoop platform to help organizations solve their most challenging business problems with data. The Cloudera Certified Technology program was created to make it simpler for Apache Hadoop technology buyers to purchase the right components and software applications to extract the most value from their data.

“Striim provides our customers with an enterprise-grade solution to easily integrate data from any and all sources including transactional systems, process and analyze that data in real time, and load it into an enterprise data hub from Cloudera,” said Tim Stevens, vice president of Business and Corporate Development at Cloudera.

Striim 3.6 Enables Streaming Hybrid Cloud Integration; Native Integration with Apache Kafka

Also Introduces Salesforce Integration, Smart Edge Processing for IoT, and UI Wizards for Rapid Data Flow Generation

PALO ALTO, CA, July 12, 2016 – Striim, Inc., today announced that it has launched version 3.6.1 of its end-to-end streaming integration + intelligence platform. This mega release delivers significant advances in streaming data integration, with a focus on enterprise-grade deployments and enhanced ease of use.

Highlights of the release include Amazon™ Cloud, Apache™ Kafka™, and Salesforce™ integrations, Smart Edge Processing for IoT, Streaming Event Replay for un-rewindable sources, and 15 new Wizards to facilitate Striim 3.6 - Hybrid Cloud + Kafka Integrationcontinuous movement of change data captured from enterprise databases.

“Striim has been designed from the ground up to enable the continuous collection, processing and analysis of high-speed streaming and messaging data, providing a foundation for enterprise adoption of the lambda architecture,” said Alok Pareek, founder and EVP of Products at Striim. “In version 3.6.1, we made enormous strides in handling the diverse data requirements of enterprise-grade streaming applications, as well as with the platform’s ease-of-use and monitoring capabilities.”

Hybrid Cloud Integration

As companies move toward hybrid cloud infrastructures, they need to be able to easily move data from on-premise to Cloud environments in real time. With this in mind, the Striim™ platform introduces support for both Amazon Redshift and S3 as data targets. Now users can ingest and process data from virtually any data source – including transactional data from enterprise databases – and load that data in real time into their Amazon Cloud environment.

Native Apache Kafka Integration and Streaming Replay’

Native Integration with Apache Kafka not only gives users the ability to ingest from, or write to Kafka, it also lays the foundation for Streaming Replay and Application Decoupling. Striim users can now quickly and easily leverage Kafka within the Striim platform to make every data source re-playable, enabling recovery even for streaming sources that cannot be rewound. This also acts to decouple applications, enabling multiple recoverable applications to be powered by the same data source.

A parallel Kafka stream can also act as an intermediary persistent store, helping to ensure that users are processing and writing the data “once and only once.” This is critical for enterprise-grade applications that need exactly once processing.

Streaming Ingestion from Salesforce

The latest version of Striim also includes a new Salesforce adapter. This adapter can be leveraged in two modes. Users can retrieve everything for an object type in Salesforce. Additionally, users can leverage Striim’s change data capture feature to capture a continuous feed of only the changes to Salesforce data. This enables initial processing of all Salesforce data, followed by the continuous capture of incremental changes, all within a single data flow or complete application.

Template-based CDC Wizards

With Striim 3.6.1, capturing and moving change data from enterprise databases has never been easier. Fifteen new Wizards enable rapid deployment of streaming solutions for moving change data from a variety of databases (including Oracle, MS SQL and MySQL), into a variety of targets (including Hadoop, Kafka and Amazon Redshift).

These CDC Wizards also facilitate configuration for Heterogeneous Real-Time Database Replication between any of the above-referenced enterprise databases, as well as Amazon Redshift. With change data capture established, Striim is able to apply the relevant operation to the target database, including in-place updates and deletes.

IoT and Smart Edge Filtering

As the volume of IoT data continues to grow, it is even more critical for companies to filter device data at the edge. Striim enables companies to embed filter logic into the device or sensor agent itself. They can set criteria for acceptable data, or aggregate data instantly at the device or sensor level, in order to reduce the volume of data being sent through streaming pipelines and into storage.

Also in support of IoT applications, Striim’s MQTT Integration has been bolstered, adding an MQTT Writer to the existing MQTT Reader.

Additional Enhancements

This mega-release of the Striim Platform also adds support for HBase as a target. In addition, a new Metadata Browser allows users to reference and introspect assets they’ve created from within the streaming application they are building.

451 Research Endorses Striim

Striim Platform Credited in 451 Research Impact Report for Delivery of Real-Time Data Integration and Intelligence

Jason Stamper, 451 Research, Striim, real-time data integration, streaming analytics, operational intelligence, data in motionAnalyst Report Highlights Increasing Requirement for Acquiring Value from Data In-Motion

PALO ALTO, CA, February 9, 2016Striim, providers of an end-to-end streaming analytics platform, today announced that it has been credited in a 451 Research Impact Report for delivering both real-time data integration and operational intelligence within a single solution. The report details the functionality offered to enterprises that need to integrate data from a variety of sources, and make use of it within milliseconds.

“Since we expect streaming technologies to get a shot in the arm from the emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) use cases, we think Striim has been canny with its design criteria. Its technology platform doesn’t only offer streaming data integration, analytics or alerting: it offers all three,” writes Jason Stamper, 451 Research Analyst. “Equally wisely, the company is incorporating open source tools such as Apache Kafka, Hive and ElasticSearch to save on development costs, and also allow companies to take advantage of existing infrastructure.”

In the report, 451 Research details recent milestones of the company, including the rebranding to Striim (pronounced “stream” – the two ‘i’s are for integration and intelligence), a number of high-caliber additions to the management team, and a $20m funding round led by Intel Capital. The report examines the capabilities of the Striim platform; from integrating data from a variety of sources in real time, to processing and transforming it within milliseconds, to correlating across multiple streams, identifying patterns, and triggering alerts and visualizations while the data is in-motion.

The report also assesses the competitive landscape of other vendors attempting to compile an open source streaming analytics platform, concluding that this approach may prove to be both time-consuming and costly.

“The technology that businesses and their customers use today – mobile, IoT, cloud, and storage –are generating ever-increasing volumes of data. To create real-time insights that a business can leverage in-time and in-context demands that this data be collected as it’s generated, and continually processed,” said Katherine Rincon, Vice President of Marketing at Striim. “By combining streaming data integration and operational intelligence, our customers are able to immediately focus on the data that is important to their business, and use it to respond faster to their customers, make better decisions, and increase their bottom line.”
