CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full-fibre platform, is rapidly scaling its network to serve high-speed connectivity to at least 8 million premises across cities, towns, and rural areas. Sustained company growth and a major new partnership with Sky, has increased demand on its data infrastructure and the need for enhanced stability within a governed data platform. To aid delivery and acceleration, CityFibre needed a real-time data integration solution that could handle increasing volumes, maintain reliability, and support an API-first approach.
Previous solutions, including Salesforce and Kafka native solution, struggled with real-time data ingestion, often failing to meet the company’s operational demands. As CityFibre continued to grow through both build and network asset acquisition, it became even more critical to process large data volumes efficiently while ensuring stability and governance.

The Solution
After evaluating real-time streaming solutions, CityFibre selected Striim to replace its legacy platform and scale data capabilities. A successful on-site proof-of-concept confirmed Striim’s ability to meet performance benchmarks, including integration with Kafka, high-volume processing, CDC from Oracle and Salesforce, and compatibility with CI/CD workflows. Striim centralized ingestion from Oracle, Salesforce, and Kafka, with all targets standardized into Kafka for further processing and downstream consumption into Snowflake, giving CityFibre a consistent, repeatable approach to building data pipelines across squads.
