Managing validation runs

This topic describes the run-time activities involved in executing validations and interpreting their outcomes. You will learn how to start a validation, monitor its progress in real time, receive alerts, and review the resulting reports to determine whether your source and target datasets are in sync.

At a high level, Validata's validation process can be understood in the following phases:

  1. Creating a new validation.

  2. Running a validation.

  3. Reviewing validation run reports.

  4. Reconciling discrepancies in the data systems based on the validation runs.

  5. Modifying an existing validation.

For information about creating and modifying validations, see Configuring a Validation.

This section covers the following topics:

  • Running a validation: Start validations manually or on a recurring schedule, pause and resume scheduled executions, cancel active runs, monitor progress through the live validation report and message log, and configure alerts for email, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.

  • Reporting the Results: Understand the reporting hierarchy, observe historical trends, and access and interpret validation reports and validation pair reports.

  • Reconciling out-of-sync records: Download and execute SQL-based reconciliation scripts to align out-of-sync target tables with their source.
