Striim continuously and incrementally monitors replication environments such as Oracle GoldenGate to provide more comprehensive and granular insights, and to ensure full replication of all data between participating databases.

The Striim platform leverages streaming Change Data Capture (CDC) on both the source and target database to continuously monitor transactions. In real-time, Striim ships a record signature from both the source and target into a pre-defined sliding time window. For every record coming in from the primary system, if the secondary system does not show a commit within the time window, the transaction is flagged and an alert is created.


This continuous query for transaction matching is then followed by an ad-hoc query on the transaction window to identify which transactions were in-flight.

Knowing which transactions are in-flight is important for troubleshooting if the primary or replica system fails. In the event of failover, the Striim platform can replay the in-flight transactions to catch up the lagging systems. Also, transactions that are identified as in-flight can be pushed to a longer time window to see if they are resolved. If the transactions are matched during the longer time window, the alert is removed.

This solution works for one-way, as well as dual-active or multi-master replication.

With the addition of Striim, replication environments can be monitored at a transaction level so that users are able to immediately gain a more comprehensive understanding, and deliver customized functionality for specific monitoring use cases.

Striim allows for visibility into essential replication metrics, including:

  • Table Activity (i.e., count of operations per table in a time period)
  • User Activity (i.e., count of records by user id)
  • Workload mix (i.e., count of records by operation type (I, U, D)
  • Speed of replication (i.e., total # of records replicated in a time period)
  • Map of tables that belong to a given GoldenGate process
  • Lag status (i.e., by table)
  • GoldenGate Adapter ingests data in real time from GoldenGate transaction trails or from the database.
  • Windows allow users to define the time-based granularity with which they would like to provide analysis.
  • Continuous Queries provide detailed analysis on streaming data at the transaction level.
  • Real-time Alerts ensure critical conditions are immediately highlighted.
